Uplifting others in their candle-making journey is imperative! That's why Julia "Jewelz" Amponsah-Gilder, owner of Couture Candlez by Jewelz, created the Black Candle Makers Club (BCMC) in 2020.

It was important for Jewelz to highlight members’ innovative products, promote their small businesses, provide them with feedback, and host segments with major candle industry experts. This led to the opening of BCMC UNIVERSITY.

Along the way, Jewelz collaborated with other small business owners to form the BCMC dream team who operates as a family with each member playing a significant role and having the same mindset of helping others succeed in their entrepreneurial journey.

The mission of the BCMC is to promote diversity and inclusion in the candle-making industry by providing knowledge and resources to a small but growing demographic.

They welcome allies of all ethnicities who support our mission of learning and growing in the art of candle-making.

They offer 4-5 new courses every month on all kinds of topics including candle-making tutorials, entrepreneurship, marketing, social media, business insurance, forming business entities, and more!
